Ocean Matter. Celeste Olalqueaga.
Ocean Matter Celeste Olalqueaga Water, we’re taught, can be found in three basic forms: liquid, solid and vapor. Flowing in rivers and oceans, crystallized in icebergs and snow, suspended in clouds or falling as rain, water is a versatile element whose polyvalence (a question of temperature) makes it a perfect vessel for transportation and transmutation. Yet water can also materialize in a living organism where the limits between liquid and solid are hazy and ungraspable, producing a slippery, viscuous consistency that is as fascinating to vision as ...
Science is fiction: An animal obsession
Science is fiction. This part of the title is taken from a book* that examines the work of Jean Painlevé, a director of science documentaries who, amongst his other accomplishments, was the first to film the male sea horse in the act of giving birth. The publication you are holding is meant to act as a book-cum-album that captures the experience of a project-experiment carried out in the Donostia-San Sebastian Aquarium, and which I’ve been working on for two years. It began with the film of the same name – ...
Project description.
Charo Garaigorta GUARDA COME DONDOLO[1] I started doing these drawings in New York, but the series has developed fundamentally over the last two years, which have been of crucial importance to me as they have involved a radical change in life from New York—where I lived for 14 years—to my ‘home’. I am now here and there, both physically and mentally. At first sight, the drawings seem to show one thing—hybrids between the animal and plant kingdoms—familiar forms that we can to some extent conceive of, yet a second look ...
Eng.Intro. Twist.
“Twist”. Display leaflet.
In “Twist”, the three sheets and the big parent Wall present a modelling session, an autonomous structuring game where the remains of the building work as patterns with which a kind of portfolio of poses is tailored. Their motions now seem more the product of a drift of their own, than of the personal construction (projection) of the “Promise” stage. They are forms that are evidently engrossed in their capacities of movement and sociability, creating a whole repertoire of events spanning the monumental and collapse. Rhythms of dances and appearances ...
